Spitfires at Biggin Hill Heritage

The Heritage Hangar at Biggin Hill was founded in early 2011 to restore a single Spitfire. The business has expanded massively since then, and the two hangers occupied house a number of aircraft undergoing complete restoration, and several in already flying condition. These include two two-seater variants used for pleasure flights. I took the Technical Tour, which allows you to get “up close and personal” with both the restored ‘planes and the ones which are in various stages of restoration. If you’re at all interested in historic aircraft, I highly recommend this tour. Note that there were aircraft being maintained that we were specifically asked not to publish photos of on the ’net, so there’s even more to see than I’ve shown here. Note also, there are a couple of Hurricanes housed, plus an incredibly rare Messerschmitt Bf109 with its original engine - one of only two examples in the world, I believe.
