Masai

Whilst we were in Kenya, we were lucky enough to be invited to a Masai ceremony where people go from one generation to the next. This takes place every ten years; young men are admitted to become warriors, older warriors move up to become elders and so on. There were several hundred Masai in attendance, and it was a strong mixture of the traditional and the new; everyone in traditional dress, but videoing the proceedings on smartphones. We were only there for 90 minutes or so, but it was clear that the celebrations were going to continue for many hours after we had left.
